About Moon Phantoms' Music
Moon Phantoms is community of SUISHOU NO FUNE and ALASEHIR. Moon Phantoms
create bottomless druggy music. The players of Moon Phantoms are free,
comfortable, happy and innocent like children. We add color in Air. We
swim in Music.
Pirako and Kageo(Suishou No Fune) encountered Michael Gibbons(Bardo Pond,
Alasehir) who was introduced for layout and producing the album,"Writhing
Underground Flowers" by The Lotus Sound in 2007.
Soon as we started to create the album, SUISHOU NO FUNE had a chance to
play at the same live concert stage with ALASEHIR ; Michael, John and Jason
in N.Y. and Philadelphia during the U.S. tour in Spring, 2007( by setting
of Scott Slimm from ARCHIVE recording). We Suishou No Fune and Alasehir
made very strong impression each other. And BARDO Family and SUISHOU NO
FUNE had session recording.; DVD "SUISHOU NO FUNE AND JAM SESSION
AT LEMUR HOUSE" released by ARCHIVE recording.
We Suishou No Fune and Alasehir played in East Coast tour of one week together
again in the autumn, 2007. During the autumn concert tour, we had felt
like that Moon always chased us. I started to look for where the moon was
unawares when we visited each town. I have strongly remembered that the
moon was full and very clear cut one night in Boston. The night was very
pleasant and let us relax.
Michael, John and Jason had a good conversation comfortably, looking at
the moon. Kageo and myself also enjoyed the night to be just eased under
the moonlight. I believed that we, SUISHOU NO FUNE and ALASEHIR could be
one band under this special moonlight.
The next day, I spoke my wish to perform music in one band to the members
and we, all fall in each other in Providence. Therefore, the Japanese and
American band named Moon Phantoms based on the concert tour with the full
moon.
And Moon Phantoms made the concert tour in the East Coast of the U.S.A.
and had recording in Spring, 2008. Then we made this album.

"Deep in the forest ethno-drones, drenched in buzz and shimmer. Sitar,
guitar, cumbas and all sorts of percussion create exquisite layers psych
drone Nirvana that will transport you to another dimension. Strangely peaceful,
the music we hear in our heads when we lay in grass at night staring at
the stars." -- Aquarius Records
Important Records
One of the four brand new Bardo Pond related releases on Important, Moon Phantoms is the mystically monickered dream team of Bardo Pond, Alasehir, and Japanese guitar noise masters Suishou No Fune! And if you're not totally sold yet, take it from us, this is two killer sides of dreary, drugged-out, improvised avant-rock for deep listeners only! Quiet guitar wanderings, distant bells and percussion, Suishou No Fune's signature vocal bursts, all slowly evolving into slow driven instrumentals with pounding drums and epic atmospheric noise guitar. Reminds us a lot of Hash Jar Tempo with a dark, sinister twist. According to Pirako Kurenai of Suishou No Fune, the band name came from a recent tour with Alasehir in which both bands discovered a peaceful likeness with the moon amidst the stresses of being on the road. Which makes sense because the album totally possesses this dark and ominous, but peaceful quality, like being at the beach at night or in a forest cabin in the dead of winter. Beautifully and masterfully improvised, this is all killer and no filler, each note lifted into the air and left to fall back to the ground with perfect placement. Beautifully epic and musically rich, limited to an edition of 500, don't miss out on this nocturnal gem!
